BERT/BURT F. O'BRYAN AND MARY E. HOWARD


BERT F. O'BRYAN was born 2 Oct 1876 in Gravois Mills, MO [1] He married Mary E. Howard, daughter of William David Howard and Mary Ellen Hess on 4 August 1902 in Cooper Co. MO [2] He died 10 April 1963 and is buried in Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO next to his second wife, Plula Jessman Fizer.[3]

Bert/Burt O'Bryan worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 15 years. He was a foreman at Lamine, MO in 1918. He was transferred to Independence in 1923. According to the 1910 Cooper County MO census, he was a blacksmith living in Boonville at 510 6th Street. At this time Burt's mother, Sarah Lowder/OBryan was living in the house with them. Mother was six years old. She never mentioned knowing her Grandma OBryan.  Sarah Lowder O'Bryan states that she was born in Indiana and that her father was also born there. She states that her mother was born in Tennessee.

MARY E. HOWARD was born 18 February 1888 in Clarksburg, Moniteau Co., MO.  She married Burt F. O'Bryan, son of William Perry O'Bryan and Sarah E. Lowder on  4 August 1902.[2] She died 2 May 1906, probably in Laclede, MO and is buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cooper Co., MO

1. Ellen Meredith O'Bryan b: 27 June 1903 d: 25 September 1985 in Collins, MO
2. Perry Morton "Jim" O'Bryan  b: 21 July 1904 d: 10 November 1966 in California
