Major George Garland served in the American Revolution under
General George Washington. Founder of the Friend / Garland House in
Bedford, (Now Fulton Co., Pennsylvania) which is on the National Historic
Registry today.
DESCENDANTS OF NICHOLAS ALLEE
4th Great-Grandfather of Ellen O'Bryan/O'Brien
We descend from Nicholas Allee in two ways, through William Allee,
son of David Allee, and through Charity Allee Howard, daughter of David
Allee. Their children, Elizabeth Allee and William Howard, married and
were the great grandparents of Ellen O'Bryan.

Passenger on the "Angel Gabriel", shipwrecked at Pemaquid
Harbor, Pemaquid Point, Maine. Monument at the Pemaquid Point
Lighthouse reads: "Near this site on August 15, 1635 Ralph Blaisdell
and family were shipwrecked. The ship was the Angel Gabriel bound
from Bristol, England, to Pemaquid. From here the family went to York,
Maine and later to Salisbury, Massachusetts"

OF CHRISTOPHER AVERY 8th Great-Grandfather of Ellen
O'Bryan
Christopher Avery immigrated from England to New London, New
London Co., Connecticut. His descendants include the well known Capt.
James Avery and many others. Their family home was the residence of many
Averys for over 200 years until it burned in 1895. A group of
descendants including the Rockefellers erected a monument which stands at
the site today.

OF SIR JOHN LORD LISLE 9th Great-Grandfather of Ellen
O'Bryan
Appointed to Oliver Cromwell's House of Lords
and was made Commissioner of Oliver Cromwell's Seal. President of the
high court of justice, who drew the indictment and death sentence of
King Charles I. and was murdered at Lausanne, Switzerland.

OF CHARLES HOAR/HOARE SR. 10th Great-Grandfather of Ellen
O'Bryan
Leonard Hoar came to Boston and became the President of Harvard
College. For many years there has been a tradition of Hoar descendants
graduating from Harvard. We descend through Charles Hoar II and his son
John Hoar a lawyer, who negotiated with the local Indians for the release
of the captives after the famous Rowlandson Garrison Raid.
